For Gel and Liquid:

  • Color: Slight yellow/Transparent

  • pH: 3.0

  • Specific Gravity: approx. 1.00

  • Flash Point: not applicable

  • For Gel only - Viscosity: 9000 to 18000 cps

  • Heavy oils and residues should be cleaned prior to application of the product.

  • For heavily soiled surfaces, we recommend power washing to remove loose material.

  • It is recommended that temperatures are above 5 to 10°C, the product works better at warmer temperatures.

  • Surfaces should be dry prior to application.

  • Do not freeze, storage temperature range 2°C-45°C.

  • Product is effective in 1-5 hours depending on the condition of the substrate. Always perform a product test patch prior to full application to determine optimum dwell time.

  • When using chemical removal products, the first rule is not to remove them until they have been given time to work.

It is recommended that a minimum dwell of 1-5 hours (depending on the substrate) should be given. Rust Remover will turn the entire surface black or dark green once the product has fully activated.

  • Apply generously to ensure an even and adequate coverage.

  • If applying Gel by spray method, use an airless sprayer or HVLP equipment.

  • Do not atomize.

  • If using Powder, dissolve Rust Remover Powder in water using a plastic tank (container).

Mixing ratio is One (1) part (by weight) Rust Remover Powder to 2.5 parts water (by weight/volume) or 2.5 litres of water to 1kg of Rust Remover Powder. O

nce you mix the powder with water, allow the liquid mixture to settle for 20 minutes before using.

  • It is important to obtain an even coverage either by spray, brush, or trowel. A good build-up of product is essential where 1 litre of product should cover approximately 2m² of surface. Or if dipping in liquid form, ensure all areas to be treated are fully immersed in dip tank.

  • When rinsing off the activated Rust Remover, use pressure washing equipment capable of 2000 psi+.

  • Rust Remover Gel can be left on the substrate indefinitely and will not attack the healthy metal. If left, a “crust” will form on the surface, acting as a protective barrier for carbon steel items, and preventing rust from occurring during transport or storage. When the item is ready for use, pressure washing will remove the hardened “crust,” and the substrate will be clean and ready for use. If a pressure washer is not available, Rust Remover Gel can be reapplied to the surface to “reactivate” the crust so that it can be removed by washing.

  • Store Solvit Rust Remover in a cool well-ventilated location. Do not store in direct sunlight.
